Shichimi Togarashi is a traditional Japanese blend created over 300 years ago in Tokyo, used to bring flavour and intensity to soups, noodles, grilled dishes and rice. “Shichimi” means “seven flavours”, and that’s exactly what this mix delivers, a balance of heat, citrus aroma, umami and texture. The Pinch’s version includes cayenne, white sesame, black sesame, ginger, orange peel, Sichuan pepper and nori seaweed. It’s an authentic and powerful combination with warm, toasty and marine notes that awaken the senses with just a pinch. It’s the spiciest blend in our range and also one of the most vibrant.

Traditionally used to finish dishes like Ramen, Udon, plain rice or grilled chicken such as Yakitori, Shichimi Togarashi is a true wildcard in Japanese cuisine. But its potential goes far beyond. Try it on scrambled eggs, roasted salmon, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tofu, homemade mayonnaise, roasted vegetables or even exotic popcorn.
